Next semester the course that will be taught is Geometry. One of the lesson that will be taught is The Pythagorean Theorem. In this essay, it will be discussed where it comes from, how it’s used , and everything else that will be needed to understand this theory.        The creator of The Pythagorean Theorem is a Greek philosopher and mathematician named Pythagoras. Pythagoras wasn’t the only one who contributed to figuring out the Pythagorean Theorem. Babylonians figured out the result of some specific triangles before Pythagoras even though he is credited with coming up with the theory . Also The Pythagorean Theorem is the most famous mathematical contribution. “When using The Pythagorean Theorem your suppose to find all right triangles whose sides are of integral length, find all solutions in the positive integers of the Pythagorean equation.” (Morris Pythagorean Theorem). To add, this party of Geometry is taught to normally kids who are in middle school and high school children. The way the Pythagorean Theorem could be taught by using dot paper, geoboards, paper folding, and computer technology.      The Formula that is used for the Pythagorean Theorem is  a2 + b2 = c2.” The Pythagorean theorem the sum of the squares on the sides of the right triangle equals the square of the hypotenuse.”( Pythagorean Theorem Online Encyclopedia). Also the Pythagorean theorem is the backbone for trigonometry and its used to calculate differences between points. If you know two sides of the right triangle you can also figure out the third side.The longest side of the triangle  is called the hypotenuse. Before using the Pythagorean Theorem make sure that you have your hypotenuse straight and to know what your solving for. So when solving your suppose to take a2 + b2 to find c2 which is the hypotenuse. Whatever a2 + b2 and add those two you get a number depending one which number is given and add those to up after ring in the square root. Then add those two up and then when you have the answer of a2+b2 you take the positive root of both sides and that’s how you find c the longest side.       When it comes to simplifying the radical it could be troublesome for some people. “There are some ways that the Pythagorean theorem could be further more explored and proved by using puzzles that are made from the Pythagorean configuration.” (Pythagorean Theorem Encyclopedia). If a person needed help they could make themselves a puzzle that uses pieces from squares on the legs of right triangles and cover one part to make a hypotenuse. It’s very important that we will learn this next semester because it’s apart of algebraic representation and it could help students understand the concept of the Pythagorean Theorem.     Lastly, some might say that Pythagoras didn’t create this theory but he’s the one who has been credited with it. Also before he was credited the Babylonians and Chinese came up with the triangles first and then Pythagoras studied what they had thought of.
